Why did you want to become a jockey?*

I'm endlessly impressed with the work that Halters is doing and would like to support them in any way I can, including this fundraising event.

Tell us about yourself (ie what do you do, how did you find out about HALTER)*

I am recently retired and new to the area, so I was looking for volunteer opportunities to be around horses. This is something I rarely had time to do during my career days. Halters offers the perfect opportunity. What I didn't expect was that I would enjoy helping the kids as much as I would enjoy working with the horses. It has been a double win for me.

Is there a fun fact you would like to share?*

I'm probably more comfortable around sharks than horses. My career was being a scuba diver, so I have plenty of ocean experiences, and I love the 'zen' of the underwater world. Now, I'm changing terrain and enjoying the challenge of understanding horses.

Who is your horse, and why did you choose him?*

Alex. I chose Alex because he reminds me of my doodle. He likes to snuggle, tolerates a ridiculous amount of kisses on his forhead and, most importantly, calmly handles riders who are not always gentle. I believe Alex understands his job and enjoys it too.
