Why did you want to become a jockey?

I am thrilled to serve as one of the 2025 HALTER Jockeys. Being a jockey allows me the platform to bring greater awareness to the mission and vision of our organization. As parents of children with special needs, it is important for the US to feel seen and heard. HALTER provides that safe space. Although my son loves his Saturdays at HALTER, I think I love it even more. Being able to connect with other parents and caregivers is so important. I have made lifelong friends at HALTER as have ALL of my children. HALTER is inclusive. The volunteers and staff SEE me and my family and HEAR us. In addition to serving our community, the clinical research that HALTER participates in is helping kids all over the globe. HALTER is a special place–not only for riders but for families, caregivers and advocates of the special needs community! I hope that you all will consider donating to this amazing organization and helping ME be the winning jockey for 2025!!

Tell us about yourself (ie what do you do, how did you find out about HALTER)

My name is Courtney Giles and I am a mother and high school teacher! My family became connected to HALTER when my son Marcus became a rider at the age of 4. He is 13 and still loves to ride! I also serve on HALTER’s board of directors.
