Why did you want to be a jockey?

I believe very strongly in the program at Halter. The welcoming and supportive atmosphere intentionally created by the amazing people there, not only blesses so many kids and their families, but has been such a boon to mine and my daughter's lives. Special-needs kids are being helped to flourish as their relational and physical skills are strengthened, transforming their home lives. But us volunteers are equally benefited by the character building, leadership training, and fabulous friendships. All of this is while connecting with such beautiful animals--the horses. Halter is an amazing opportunity that needs to be supported and celebrated.

Tell us about yourself!

A 46 yr old father of three, husband to one, Graphic Design and English Literature double major. Two years ago I flipped roles with my amazing wife to allow her to restart her career as I took the lion share of the kids and home. My career is freelance graphic design, along with kid and media ministry at my local church. Love acting and drama, writing curriculum and musicals, and video editing. Love roller skating, trampoline parks, and hiking in the mountains. Dream one day of publishing several book ideas when I enter the empty-nest season of life. My love of fantasy and exploration has seen me spend too many hours in video games; but they're how I decompress. In recent years, I've been facing my greatest fear--fear of failure and acceptance--by understanding a principle of a book "Failing Forward". If we're not failing, we're not moving forward. Now I try to embrace the failures and uncomfortable unknowns--it's how we learn and grow. Let's see, anything else, oh, I can also be too long-winded in my texts ; )
